 merlot wine tasting note

tasting notes

merlot

a vibrant magenta with sparkling clarity and intense hues

spice, plummy, blackberries and the perfume of chocolate

the immediate impact of flavour on the palate is of strong and mouth filling fruit that is complemented by the fine-grained, ripe tannins

a fermentation period of 10 days followed by a further 10 days of skin contact have kept the tannins as fine grained as possible. this use of some new and old French oak for 8 months has allowed the varietie''s fresh fruit characteristics not to be overpowered

3-5 years

the growing season started with good rains and a cool start to summer. This resulted in a build up of flavour and depth of intensity to the wine
